Seeking an experienced Assistant House Manager for a semi-formal family based in Caledon, ON. Previous experience working in a semi-formal residence is required. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the House Manager with the day-to-day running of the interior and exterior of the residence. This position is full-time, live-out Monday to Friday, 9AM – 5PM. This role is hands-on and includes some housekeeping and household maintenance tasks. This is a dog-centric role; applicants should be flexible with schedules and travel as required.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • A versatile hands-on assistant manager, able to assist and fill in as needed
  • Train and supervise housekeepers and other staff
  • Light housekeeping duties including laundry, ironing, sewing/mending, detailing etc.
  • Schedule and assist with seasonal deep cleaning projects
  • Maintain and update household operating and standards manuals
  • Management of household inventories, and implementing new organizational strategies
  • Regular errands to include but not limited to grocery shopping, dry cleaning, receiving and sending of packages
  • Greeting of guests and visitors, answering telephone and taking messages, general mail and correspondence
  • Assist with event planning and execution, food and beverage service
  • Schedule and supervise trades and vendors
  • Knowledge of household security systems
  • Take on small household projects
  • Occasional driving duties
  • Dog walking, and bathing as needed

 

Applicant Qualities:

  • Must possess excellent time management skills, be punctual, courteous, possess keen attention to detail and follow through on all projects assigned
  • Must be service oriented, able to anticipate principals’ and guests’ needs
  • A team player able to motivate and work with staff to ensure a positive outcome
  • Must enjoy working around and respect dogs
  • Tech savvy and computer literate; knowledgeable and experienced with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times; exercise diplomacy, discretion, and respect boundaries
  • Excellent English language skills and polished professional presentation
  • Must have a valid, clean Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (class G)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

 

Salary is commensurate with experience.
