Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced House Manager for a semi-formal family in the Rosedale area of Toronto, ON. The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the interior and exterior of the residence. This position is full-time, live-out Monday to Friday, 9AM – 5PM. Applicants should be flexible with schedules and travel as required.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • A versatile hands-on manager, able to assist staff and fill in as needed
  • Supervise housekeepers and nanny
  • Perform walk-throughs and inspections to ensure timely completion of all assigned duties
  • Schedule, assign and assist with seasonal deep cleaning projects
  • Maintain and update household operating and standards manuals
  • Regular errands to include grocery and household inventory shopping; dry cleaning; receiving and sending of packages
  • Greet guests and visitors, and ensure their comfort
  • Event planning, organize caterer for large events, and assist with execution
  • Provide food and beverage service
  • Schedule and supervise trades and vendors
  • Knowledge of household security systems
  • Occasional driving duties; vehicle management to maintain service schedules and cleanliness
  • Occasional travel to Principals’ Muskoka residence to ensure home is ready for their arrival; liaise with property manager and housekeepers
  • Other duties as required, to include occasional pet care (2 dogs)

 

Applicant Qualities:

  • Previous experience in household management within a semi-formal residence is required
  • Must possess excellent time management skills, be punctual, courteous, possess keen attention to detail and follow through on all projects assigned
  • Must be service oriented, able to anticipate principals’ and guests’ needs
  • A team player able to motivate and work with staff to ensure a positive outcome
  • Tech familiar and computer literate; knowledgeable and experienced with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times; exercise diplomacy, discretion, and respect boundaries
  • Excellent English language skills and polished professional presentation
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time; able to go up and down stairs; lift 40-50lbs
  • Must have a valid, clean Ontario driver’s licence (class G); ability to drive manual transmission cars an asset, boating licence an asset
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

 

Salary is commensurate with experience.
