Seeking an experienced House Manager for a private family in the downtown core. The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for assisting with the personal and administrative duties of one of the principals with a mobility issue. The House Manager will play a key role in the coordination of appointments including medical staff, in-home services and social activities for a very busy household. The ideal applicant is service- oriented; this is not a personal support worker role.

This position is primarily full-time, Monday to Friday, 9AM – 5PM. Applicants should be flexible with schedules and be able to occasionally support activities or requirements outside of the core hours.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Extensive calendar management and organization of personal and medical appointments
  • Accompanying the Principal to appointments and social engagements
  • Researching and verifying accessibility conditions for appointments
  • Answering telephone, e-mail and written correspondence, acting as a primary liaison to the Principal
  • Management and coordination of personal events and schedules
  • Carrying out personal and household errands
  • Managing household inventories and procuring required items
  • Grocery shopping and basic food prep
  • Procuring and coordinating medical equipment and technology
  • Building out and establishing a family office system in conjunction with Principal, including maintaining and updating household manuals, databases, medical records, and inventories as needed
  • Coordinating household and personal bookkeeping, reporting to principals as required
  • Liaise and coordinate with other household staff and the condominium concierge for deliveries and visits

Applicant Qualities:

  • 3 years minimum of relevant professional experience
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Must respect and be able to work in the presence of cats
  • Computer literate; advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X platforms and programs
  • Excellent research skills with strong intuition, resourcefulness, and the ability to problem solve
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times, exercise diplomacy, discretion and respect of boundaries
  • A team player who also enjoys working independently
  • Polished, professional personal presentation
  • A valid, clean Ontario driver’s licence is an asset (class G)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
