A Formal Syllabus • We are the only school with a comprehensive written syllabus that provides a framework and standard for all of our instructors to follow. The result is augmented standards of professionalism and consistency for each graduating class.
Laboratory Teaching Methodology • We are the only school to have developed a laboratory methodology of instruction. Our laboratory classroom is fully outfitted with the tools and products of fine luxury homes ensuring that students receive the precise hands on experience that they will require in private service career. • Our curriculum is broad, practical and skills focused. We emphasize skills over grand surroundings. We eschew dusty, outmoded practices in favor of instruction on skills that are current and relevant to today’s households. • The curriculum is designed to provide students with comprehensive Butler and Household Manager skills that can be put to use on Day 1 of their first private service position. • In today’s residential market, Butlers and Household Managers must understand the skill set of each staff member in the residence. Students will learn how to correctly execute each household job skill to facilitate superior management of their staff.
An Independent Board of Governors • An independent body comprised of 10 individuals within the placement industry, private households and luxury hospitality field governs our syllabus. They all share a profound commitment to ensuring the Academy meets the highest professional standards. • A certified Human Resource professional works with each student to assist him or her in developing focused and well-targeted resumes as well as job search strategies that will increase their opportunities upon graduation. • Throughout the course, the staff of Charles MacPherson Placement division get acquainted with each student so that a marketing piece called the Graduate Profile binder can be prepared. We reach out to other Placement Agencies to maximize opportunity for our Students • We are the only school to train private service professionals and reach out to outside placement agencies so that student opportunities for employment upon graduation can be maximized. • Exclusive to our Academy is a unique partnership with leading Global Placement firms. Through the Academy's partnerships, graduates have and extended reach into the labor market as they seek employement. • Each Partner Firm will receive a copy of the Graduate Profile binder to begin working alongside our team to assist in finding placement for each of our graduates.
Instructors who are recognized experts in their fields • Our instructors are carefully chosen by the Academy for their field experience as well as their ability to teach. Each instructor has a minimum of 10 years experience in his or her chosen field of work. • Each field trip will be lead by a topic expert. • The courses are offered as 23 separate modules run consecutively over 8 weeks. • Students may choose to complete specific topics only, rather than attend the full Academy, or complete the entire program over a period of several years while employed full time. • The Charles MacPherson Academy maintains a record of all certified Academy graduates. • Our partners believe in us and we are proud to have Miele Limited as sponsors of the Academy.
