Chef / House Manager

Executive style residence is seeking a professional and experienced individual for a combined role of Chef and House Manager for their primary Toronto residence.   Position will combine Chef and House Management duties with travel required 8-10 weeks per year. This is a full time, live out position with role as Chef 60%  and House Manager 40%.  Applicants must have previous experience working in formal style of residence.
Position Overview:
Primary responsibilities include but not limited to both culinary & house management for daily meals, menu planning, shopping, pantry inventories and food & beverage service.   Excellent culinary skills required for creative and healthy menu plans. Position will also be responsible to oversee and organize the day to day affairs of the residence to maintain high standards and overall efficiency. 
 
Primary Responsibilities: Chef
  • Applicant must have excellent culinary education / training and skills to prepare high quality cuisine style meals that are health conscious and nutritious using only market fresh and seasonal ingredients. 
  • All menu plans to be reviewed and approved on weekly basis for minimal duplication of meals. 
  • Responsible for marketing and groceries, kitchen and pantry stocks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen at all times including general maintenance of equipment.
  • Event planning for small intimate settings to larger formal sit down full service occasions, menu plans, shopping lists, wine lists and table settings.
 
Primary Responsibilities: House Manager
  • Day to day running of the residence to maintain standards and efficiency.
  • Staff management for housekeepers; schedules, tasks and special projects for the care of fine furnishings and finishes.
  • To manage trades & vendors as required for both interior and exterior maintenance.
  • Manage and monitor general household inventories and budgets.
  • Vehicle management.
 
Applicant Qualities:
  • Must be flexible with work schedules and accommodating to regular travel several weeks a year.
  • Applicants must be pleasant, patient and very service oriented having a neat & polished appearance at all times.
  • Excellent culinary skills with food and beverage service experience a must.
  • Excellent time management, punctuality, multi-tasking and attention to detail with follow through from start to finish along with strong organizational skills are required.
  • Experience and knowledge of informal and formal food and beverage service, menu planning, event management and planning for private, social and holiday events.
  • A relaxed yet polished professional who is flexible, self-motivated and with positive energy.
  • Applicants must have a hands on style work ethic to participate with everyday household maintenance.
  • Must have a sense and respect of boundaries, exercise discretion, privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record with own vehicle. Preferred drivers with manual transmission for vehicle management.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must have valid passport with no travel restrictions.
 
Salary and benefits will be dependent on previous experience and employment.
