Program Outline
The program starts off with you having a private coaching call with Charles MacPherson, allowing you to introduce yourself, and ask any questions you may have. You’ll have Charles all to yourself to ask him any household management related question you might have.
There are two program options detailed at the bottom of this page, a standard and advanced program options. You can pick either one that is right for you, they are both offered consecutively.
Week One: EMPLOYER AND EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATION
The live class starts with learning what are the common communication hurdles in household management. We will do a deep dive into the most successful communication techniques, including reviewing what employers are looking for, and understanding how best to meet their needs. You will gain self-confidence and be equipped to use effective verbal and written communication skills to your advantage. There will be assigned homework and a weekly test all to be completed before week two.
Concluding week one you will have learned best practices on how to communicate within this tricky environment.
Week Two: HOUSEHOLD ORGANIZATION (PEOPLE)
Understanding, exploring and identifying common household manager responsibilities is key to understanding your job. We will do a deep dive into how to successfully prepare a household organizational chart and how to use this to your advantage. We then proceed directly into how to diffuse challenging situations to everyone’s advantage. We will also familiarizing ourselves with basic household human resources issues and their solutions. There will be assigned homework and a weekly test all to be completed before week three.
Concluding week two you will be set up to best organize yourself for success within your job.
Week Three: HOUSEHOLD ORGANIZATIONS (SYSTEMS)
The implementation of systems is key to your success. Week three focuses on comprehension and application of user-friendly household management systems. We will review and illustrate the core components of systems and how to apply the thought process of simplicity to achieve success. Lastly the knowhow of organizational strategies and tools will be at your disposal with industry best practices. There will be assigned homework and a weekly test all to be completed before week four.
Concluding week three you will have proven tools in hand that you can apply in almost any home allowing daily operations to unfold with the least amount of effort, while keeping your employer happy.
Week Four: HOUSEHOLD SECURITY
What are the common risks every house manager needs to be aware of? Identifying security systems and their application, reviewing simple but critical daily tasks such as front door or telephone management, which is often overlooked. How can you prepare for future emergencies and your role when it comes to security. There will be assigned homework and a weekly test all to be completed before week five.
Concluding week three you will be in a better position to understand risks and how to mitigate them for your employer.
Week Five: HOUSEHOLD MECHANICALS
As our final week begins, the focus is on the household. Today, many homes are commercial buildings and as such we need to understand their function and how to speak with engineers, builders and the trades who service your home. Reviewing how to make maintenance schedules and keeping track of repairs and associated costs for the family. There will be assigned homework and a weekly test bringing this program to a close.
